Rotary is an amazing organization!
It is large enough to eradicate polio throughout the world (almost there!) and send Shelter Boxes to disaster ares around the world to provide shelter for those in desparate need. It works to clean up the water supply in many improvished parts of the world to save lives and improve the economy, provides free mosquito nets to fight maleria, provide free wheelchairs and send in teams to do free cleft lip and palate surgeries for those who otherwise would not have access to the services. Also provides micro loans to women in poverty areas to help them establish their own businesses, and on and on.
Nearer home the regional Rotary organizations combine the resourses of local clubs to provide hands-on participation in Rotary International programs like those above, sponser student and business exchange programs, conduct regional training and service projects, and so forth.
Locally, the Yardley-Morrisville Area Rotary partners with other service organizations like the YMCA, Ivins House, the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army in community service. Also partners with the schools to provide I Like Me personalized reading books for kindergartners, Student Dictionaries for third graders, student service recognition awards and a new Leadership Academy for high school students. Conducts an annual Easter Egg Hunt for the community, sells food and refreshments at local events, sponsors annual Carnivals and so on.
Current plans include organizing a Rotaract and Friends group of active professionals and business persons in Morrisville. Through working together on specific service projects in the Borough, members of the group will get to know each other better and discover those areas of common interests and concerns that can lead to improving the quality of living in Morrisville.
Rotary is nothing without its members and community support. So please look around this web site to find out more about Rotary and how you can make a difference.
