HAPPY HOLIDAYS

              AND A

                 JOYFUL NEW YEAR!

Karen and I send our best wishes to you and your family for this holiday season. May the month bring blessings and joy to you and yours. The past six months have been filled with great joy and some sadness in our District 7430 Rotary world. We wanted to reflect just a bit on the path that we have walked these past months and share what has happened.

Our District has had a challenging six months but there has been real growth to celebrate. Contributions to our Rotary Foundation have been steady. PDG Mike McCarthy reports that our Foundation giving is at 35.29% of goal ($55,650.38) of $157,695. Additionally, $25,000 has been given to the Permanent Fund, as well as three Rotarians' commitment to the Bequest Society and four additional major donors. Finally our Polio Plus contribution YTD is $34,336 bringing District and Club support to $329,633.87  with another $10,000 gift to add and $30,000 in DDF to add.  Great Job Rotarians!

Membership is an ever elusive number but we started the year at approximately 1960 after clubs had adjusted their rosters for the new Rotary year.  I would say we are now growing again with about 30 new members added-not enough but our clubs are working this hard.

As you know we are delighted that we now have a part-time paid District Administrator - Kathy

Greiss. Kathy joined the team on September 1st  and divides her 16 hours a week between the District functions and the Youth Exchange program. She is doing a great job building our archives as well as our databases. We look to have this position fully integrated for DGE Tony.

Speaking of our District Governor track, we are delighted that Rotarian Frank Romano, RC Harleysville, was nominated as our District Governor 2013-14. Rtn. Frank will have only one year to prepare for his DG year so we want to fully support him.

To round our six month effort, we have worked with the clubs to build our Interact program support at the District level. Four regional meetings were held this Fall with the goal of bringing our Interactors together in regional gatherings in the Spring. We have a great group of both Rotary Club and High School advisers that guide our 31 Interact cubs.

Finally I want to end with a tribute our District's Rotarian's Rotarian,  PDG Yvette Palmer. For those of us that were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to interact with Yvette and to learn from her, we express our deep gratitude for these times. For those of us who have filled District leadership roles in the past ten years, we express our wonder at her Rotary knowledge and ability to impart this knowledge. Finally for those that just had the pleasure to talk with her - we will miss a friend and colleague.

Let us celebrate the joy of our families and the wonderful things that our Rotary family accomplishes each year to make a better and more peaceful world for all global citizens.

Blessings,  DG Bill and Karen Jahn
